Initiatives

Strategic issues that deserve more attention

We champion areas that are crucial to Hungary’s competitiveness, security and future, yet receive insufficient attention. Our approach is consistent: bring stakeholders together, assess the situation and put forward a public professional proposal.

01 · Energy

Energy — security of supply, independence, competitiveness

Energy is simultaneously an economic, security and social issue. Regulation changes rapidly, investment decisions have long-term consequences, and businesses need predictability. Our aim is to ensure that the experience of energy stakeholders — producers, service providers, developers, major consumers and professional organisations — informs policy preparation in time.

Focus areas: geothermal energy · energy efficiency and the obligation scheme · renewable energy and storage · grid development · building energy performance and funding schemes.

Geothermal energy as a national asset

Hungary’s geothermal resources are exceptional even by European standards, yet remain largely untapped. Geothermal energy is renewable, weather-independent and continuously available, and can strengthen security of supply and energy independence. Our aim is to treat it not merely as an energy source, but as a strategic national asset, and to support its sustainable, economically efficient use.

Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme (EKR)

Changes to the obligation scheme affect many stakeholders, from energy traders to end users. We provide a professional forum to help them understand changes in time and ensure that their experience reaches regulators.

02 · Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity — a prerequisite for a digital nation

Cyberattacks no longer affect only large companies: utilities, hospitals, local governments and small and medium-sized businesses are also targets. European regulation requires more organisations to adopt proactive protection. We initiate dialogue between public-sector stakeholders, providers and business users on how cybersecurity can become a competitive advantage rather than merely a compliance burden.

03 · National Fire Safety Strategy

National Fire Safety Strategy — prepared for a changing climate

The effects of climate change make a comprehensive, long-term national fire safety strategy increasingly necessary, alongside nationwide awareness-raising and education programmes. Our aim is to bring lawmakers, disaster management authorities, insurers, local governments and economic stakeholders together to assess current rules and practice, and propose improvements to fire safety and public preparedness.

We are launching a professional working group. If your organisation is involved, please express your interest in participating.

04 · International connections

’56 Bridge – Hungarian heritage. International connections.

The ’56 Bridge initiative aims to create new professional connections between Hungary and the world, building on the knowledge, experience and networks of the Hungarian diaspora of 1956 and subsequent generations.

Its goal is to help Hungarian businesses, researchers and young people connect with international partners, knowledge centres and mentors. The legacy of 1956 is a shared starting point: with respect for the past, we seek to foster cooperation today and opportunities for the future.
